The museum is home to many remarkable works of art.
The Cziráky Ancestral Gallery is a collection of portraits of the most famous members of the family in the history of our country. Among the Cziráky portraits, the paintings of the well-known Austrian J.M. Millitz (after 1725-1775) stand out in terms of their artistic value and their painterly implementation, in which Count László Cziráky and Count József Cziráky are also outstanding. Among the works of the historical portrait gallery, the portraits of Pál Bethlen and his wife Pálné Bethlen, painted by Antal Ferenc Bergmann (1762-1807) from Transylvania, as well as the late portraits of Alajos Györgyi Giergl (1821-1863) deserve attention. Another special piece of the collection is the work of Count Domokos Teleki by Miklós Barabás (1810-1898).
Other works of the Historical Gallery capture outstanding personalities of the city's history, including the Turkish beater Miklós Pálffy, Adolf Schwarzenberg and famous mayors such as Károly Zechmeister, Jenő Wennes or Dr. Ferenc Szauter.
The images and graphics clearly illustrate the taste and specific style of each era and era. As an example, we can mention the cozy still lifes of István Vörös Izbighi from the middle of the 18th century, as well as the painting of István Dorfmeister (1725-1797) entitled „Count Antalné Jankovich on the funeral”, which offers a glimpse into the thinking and specific material culture of the time.
A significant part of the modern and contemporary collection consists of the Radnai Collection, the Imre Patkó Collection and the Vasilescu Collection. The former City Art Museum's Hungarian fine art collection of the 1990s, as well as the significant domestic and foreign unique and duplicated graphic material of the International Art Colony and Graphics Biennale form a separate unit within the material.
