Art treasures of the Szent Imre Church
The Nádorvárosi church, which was inaugurated on the brink of the Second World War, was built between 1937 and 1943 based on the plans of the architect Nándor Körmendy. The murals of István Szőnyi, the mosaic floor of the sanctuary created by Géza Fónyi, the pulpit of Hímeskő by Eszter Mattioni, the altar relief of Miklós Borsos, as well as the large-scale statues of Béla Ohmann and Ferenc Varga, all contribute to the church deserves special attention from the point of view of our visual and industrial arts between the two world wars.

Under the protection of patron saints: the island of St. Rókus and Sebestyén's Church
The small church on Győr Island receives little attention in addition to the large-scale baroque church memories of the city center. Although the church consecrated in 1712 is no less rich in values. During the leadership, we can learn about the program of the representation of colorful baroque altars made by local masters and, through them, the cult of the Virgin Mary and the patron saints. Mysteries of how Naples and Parma end up on an altarpiece in Győr, or what the letters written in separate red color are hiding in a Latin inscription. After the baroque masters who remained anonymous, in the 20th century, famous Győr artists such as József Pandúr or Antal Borsa, whose works we are also following, were also working on the decoration of the church.
Speaker: Zoltán Székely, art historian, museum director
Meeting point: at the entrance to the church from 09.50
Location: Szent Rókus and Sebestyén Churches of Sziget (Győr, János Simor's square)

The chapel and tombs of the island's Catholic cemetery
The island's Catholic cemetery is still under church management. Its chapel is the most remarkable of the Győr cemetery chapels, as the altarpiece and the equipment have survived. In addition to visiting the building, the cemetery walk touches the common places of grace („Everyone's crosses”) as well as the most important priestly graves of the cemetery. One of Győr's most important cemetery sculptures, the work of Ödön Moiret, known from the Gödöllő artist colony, a specially shaped statue of Christ, can also be found here.
Speaker: Vilmos Tóth, historian and assistant museumologist
Practical information for those arriving by car: it is possible to park a maximum of two or three cars at the entrance to the cemetery. It is advisable to use the parking lot of the Olympic Sports Park nearby.
Meeting point: at the entrance to the cemetery from 2:50 p.m.
