Jazz Poetry - Gábor Gyukics' literary evening

2026 April 11. 19:00 - 21:00

Participation fee:

HUF 2,000

The essence of jazz poetry is that the musician improvises the poem that the poet performs. The musician does not play among the poems, but improvises at the same time as the poem is recited, according to or counterpointing it. In the beginning, jazz poetry performers were mostly black poets and black musicians. This changed somewhat with the appearance of the beat poets, among whom black blues and jazz were popular.
In 2026, the jazz poetry series entered its 26th year, the only domestic representative of which is the poet Gábor Gyukics from Szeged. During the nearly three decades, hundreds of evenings are organized not only at home, but also in many foreign countries. These evenings were attended by popular and famous musicians and poets such as Kriszta Bódis, Mihály Dresch, Orsoly István Karafiáth Grencsó, Endre Barabás Lőrinc Kukorelly, and we could go on and on....

On Saturday, April 11 - on the occasion of Poetry Day - the program will arrive in Győr, at the Rómer Ház, where the guests of Gábor Gyukics will be as follows:
– László Villányi – poet
– László Csányi – guitarist (Loose band)
