Gen.Ukrainian's children's drawing exhibition presents Ukrainian children's drawings made during the war since 2022. The purpose of the exhibition is to convey the horrors and hopeful moments of the everyday life in Ukraine through the children's own, often heart-wrenching drawings - involving visitors in a direct, honest form in the personal history of the civilian victims of the war. As an American war museum points out, „children can often only share their experiences through their art, so their stories often remain invisible to the general public.” This exhibition fills this gap. Among the children's drawings, the innocence of childhood and the tragedy of the conflict are revealed at the same time, which brings the civil side of the war closer to the Hungarian audience.
International examples also support the success of the concept: from 2024, similar exhibitions of Ukrainian children's drawings have been held in the Czech Republic, the USA, Poland, Austria and Canada
to organize, which proves that children's art is a strong message and meets the interest of the audience.
The exhibition was compiled by Simon Richárd from drawings made by the NGO Gen.Ukrainian, which examines the lives of young people who have experienced war trauma and organizes innovative psychological and rehabilitation programs for them. The implementation of the exhibition was also greatly supported by the embassy of Ukraine in Hungary.
