The episcopal court house built in the 15th century is located on Chapter Hill, next to the statue of St. Michael and the chapel of St. Ladislaus of the episcopal cathedral. The renovation of the building, built in the Gothic style, was completed in 1979, and has since hosted the exhibition of Miklós Borsos' oeuvre.
Miklós Borsos (1906–1990) is a classical master of modern Hungarian sculpture, who, after his early painting experiments, created a lasting impression in all genres of plastic. Several new genre solutions are attributed to him. In addition to his sculpting activities, his work as a medal artist is also very significant, and we consider him one of the innovators of the genre in the 20th century. He drew tirelessly all his life. The drawing helped him become a sculptor, and his art was fulfilled with the drawing. He created unforgettable illustrations for dozens of literary works.
Until the 1940s, his sculpture was closely related to the modern sculptural direction represented by Beck Ö. Fülöp, Béni Ferenczy and Ferenc Medgyessy. After that, his art took a classicizing direction, in which both natural and abstract tendencies can be found. The beauties of life: silence, tranquility, harmony, love, and its dark sides: struggle, death were the artist's main themes.
