Orsolya Drozdik Orshi (1946, Abda – ) Munkácsy and Prima Primissima award-winning visual artist Me and the Akt Model (1973–77) – Exiting the book: Memories of the woman drawing the woman's body (coppers, drawings, cartoon, poems) presents a remarkable selection of the early works of the form-breaking cosmopolitan artist. The chamber exhibition focuses on the motive of the unusual oeuvre, its basic tools and topics. It gives a glimpse into the thoughts, mental and spiritual struggles of the artist, who was still at the beginning of his career at the time, as well as the pathfinding of the traditional and new techniques and styles.
The material of the chamber exhibition was mostly made with traditional graphic techniques. We can get to know the drawings and etchings of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (now the Hungarian University of Fine Arts) studying the duplication graphics department, as well as the theoretical writings, poems and animations related to them. His study drawings, carried out with virtuoso technical knowledge, do not reflect the traditional artistic education of the period, but reflect on the zeitgeist, the current social, philosophical and artistic milieu in a critical way. The exhibition is a plastic impression of the conceptual artist's pathfinding and recognition of identity, which projects the entire career. The entire artistic career of Orsolya Drozdik Orshi, which spanned continents - from Budapest to Amsterdam, New York, Rome to Paris - is a versatile and innovative realization of the crossing of genres, styles, materials and borders.
„Immersed in the wide-ranging roots of my own art history past, I discovered a huge, hitherto unexplored universe. Areas that I have not previously researched, that I have rarely thought about, even though they are the cornerstones of my artistic and human existence. Leaving the book (1973–76), the graphic series Aktmodell (1973–77) are mentally transformed into later conceptual works of art with experimental media: performances and photos.
