Archeology task performance: In the case of the intervention, development, or investment associated with earthwork, the site detection and preventive activity carried out by the state or local government-maintained institution as a public task, the professional activity of which is the excavation management, the documentation of the excavation, the performance of the tasks of the archaeological technician, the primary processing of the findings is the archaeological demolition work (LXIV of 2001 TV § 7 ).
In the case of the following detailed services, a contract must always be concluded with the museum for the performance of tasks. Either the written or oral form of the order is not sufficient.
archaeological observation
Archaeological observation: Continuous monitoring of the earthwork of the investment by an archaeologist on the site, and, if necessary, carrying out and documenting the archaeological demolition work (LXIV of 2001 TV § 7 ).
Based on the legislation, the Authority prescribes in the following cases:
aa) the planned activity does not, or only to a small extent, affects the registered archaeological site and the elements of the archaeological heritage,
ab) the occurrence of elements of the archaeological heritage is sporadic,
ac) the depth of the earthwork related to the investment does not reach the level of application of the elements of the archaeological heritage,
ad) the area of the registered archaeological site affected by the investment was previously disturbed by earthworks or
ae) Due to the technical nature of the investment, the performance of archaeological tasks cannot be carried out in any other way (LXIV of 2001 TV § 22. (3)).
The museum undertakes to provide archaeological monitoring and professional supervision for the duration of the earthworks associated with deepening, and to document any archaeological objects that may appear there, without opening them.
68/2018. (IV.9.) Government Decree on rules related to the protection of cultural heritage based on:
| Archaeological observation, specialist supervision (observation, documentation with the participation of an archaeologist) |
Net HUF 8,000/hour/person, but at least HUF 36,000/day/person |
If archaeological phenomena are discovered during archaeological observation, the contracting parties will ensure their discovery within the framework of a separate agreement.
trial of whatsheet
Test excavation: Establishing the archaeological involvement of areas of archaeological interest, assessing the state of archaeological sites, establishing its nature, spatial extent and strata, in the case of pre-examination in the case of pre-examination, determining the method and extent of the endangered sources and preventive excavation or determining and classifying the degree of protection of the sites (LXIV of 2001 TV § 7 ).
Based on the legislation, the Authority prescribes in the following cases:
ba) no prior archaeological documentation is available, or no test excavation has been carried out for its preparation as specified by law,
bb) planned investment with a foundation technique that does not involve land extraction is realized,
bc) The nature, intensity, spatial extent or strata of the registered archaeological site is unknown (LXIV of 2001 TV § 22. (3)).
During the test excavation, research trenches, so-called probes, are usually created, from which the archaeological involvement of the investment area can be established. If the test excavation brings a positive result, i.e. the area is archaeologically covered, it may become necessary to carry out a full-surface excavation.
Fully surface excavation
Full surface exploration: at a registered archaeological site, the entire area of the archaeological heritage is explored in the entire area affected by the earthworks (LXIV of 2001 TV § 7 ).
Based on the legislation, the Authority prescribes in the following cases:
ca) the site or part of the site affected by the investment is an outstanding source of our country's past,
cb) The investment is realized in the area of the historical city core,
d) may require full-surface exploration if the exploration is expected to enrich scientific knowledge with significant new results (LXIV of 2001 TV § 22. (3)).
During the full-surface excavation, an archaeologically covered, affected part of the investment area will be excavated.
Costs of test excavation, full-surface excavation:
68/2018. (IV.9.) Government Decree on rules related to the protection of cultural heritage based on:
| Exploring the historically related memorabilia of one or more eras (1 or 2 layers) | HUF 3150 + VAT/m² |
| Multilayer site (from 3 layers) | HUF 3150 x (number of layers-1) + VAT/m² |
| Historical city core, low intensity (small depth, low coverage, few objects) | HUF 15,750 + VAT/m² |
| Historical city core is low intensity (high depth, low coverage, few objects) | HUF 31,500 + VAT/m² |
| Historical city core, medium intensity (medium depth, medium coverage, territorially connected objects) | HUF 47,250 + VAT/m² |
| Historical city core (large depth, intense coverage, overlapping objects) | HUF 63,000 + VAT/m² |

| surveillance | HUF 3150 + VAT/m² |
In the case of m²-based remuneration, the geodetic designation of the delimitation and the calculation of the included area: in all cases, the area demarcated by a boundary line drawn at a distance of 10 meters from the outer contour line of the archaeological object, as well as the area of the polygon marked by the lines drawn in this way around each object, is accounted for.
The service includes:
• Excavation demolition work, archeology and archaeological technical work
• Field geodesy, field documentation preparation, GIS processing of documentation
• Archiving documentation
• Primary find processing (washing, restoration, static supplement, supply with primary findings)
• Primary scientific processing (preliminary report)
• Costs of museum storage
The investor is obliged to ensure the implementation of the archaeological earthwork related to the archaeological excavation. If the investor cannot provide the earthwork, the excavation institution - according to the Public Procurement Act - will ensure the performance of the earthwork related to the performance of the archaeological task at the investor's expense (LXIV of 2001 TV 23rd. § (2)).
