Town Hall tower
09.30–10.30 • 13.30–14.30
One of the city gates in Győr was the Fehérvár gate, which stood on the current Baross Gábor Street. In 1792, the fire tower in Győr, also known as the city tower, was erected over it. When news broke in 1894 that it had been demolished and that a new town hall was being built within a few years, the people of Győr insisted that the symbol of the city at that time continue to live in the new tower to be erected above the town hall building. That's how it happened. During the program, we can learn about the history of the tower, which is briefly explained by assistant librarian Fülöp Szabolcs, and then we can admire the city of Győr, the towers of our national memorial, Káptalandomb, from a height of 59 meters, all from a bird's eye view!
Location: City Hall (Győr, Városház tér 1.)

A World of Soldiers and Citizens in Arrabona - Stone Memories of the Castle Date
The ancient predecessor of Győr, the military fortress of Arrabona during the Roman period, stood on today's Káptalandomb. In the exhibition of the Várkazamata-kőtár, the stone monuments from the region give a glimpse into the lives of the soldiers of the auxiliary troops who once served here and the civilian population living in the settlement. The ’stone’ stories come to life during the light-hearted guided tour, and through them the customs and world of a bygone era.
Exhibition manager: János Nagy, museum educator
Location: Várkazamata–Kőtár (Győr, Bécsi kapu tér 5.)
